GTA’s Multiverse: Characters Who Shaped the Franchise

Rockstar is excellent at crafting stories with familiar characters, making gaming more exciting and surprising.

In this post, we’ll talk about GTA characters who appeared in more than one GTA game.

GTA Characters That Appeared in Multiple GTA Games

Certain GTA characters can pop up in particular GTA games to add excitement to the storyline. But remember, they stay within their game universe and can’t cross into others.

For example, Michael De Santa in GTA V and from the HD Universe can’t appear in GTA: San Andreas, which belongs to the 3D Universe.

So, without further ado, here’s the list of all the characters that appeared in multiple GTA games:

1. Claude (GTA III, GTA: San Andreas)

Claude

Claude, a protagonist in GTA III, is an iconic character who seeks revenge on his deceitful ex-girlfriend, Catalina.

Claude was her partner in San Andreas before they broke up in GTA III. They raced against her ex, “Carl Johnson,” who is the protagonist in GTA: San Andreas.

2. Lazlow Jones (Various)

Lazlow Jones

Since GTA III, Lazlow’s has been in every main game of the series. Most of the time, his voice can only be heard via radio as he is a media personality.

Lazlow first appears in person in GTA 5 when he mistreats Tracey De Santa, getting noticed by both Michael and Trevor.

3. Catalina (GTA III, GTA: San Andreas)

Catalina

In GTA III’s first scene, she double-crosses her partner and boyfriend, Claude. After that, the protagonist, Claude, aims to find and confront her throughout the game.

Years ago, Catalina was in a rocky relationship with CJ in San Andreas. They went on a crime spree together, but she later dumped him. Making her one of the most hated characters in GTA history.

4. Salvatore Leone (GTA III, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Liberty City Stories)

Salvatore Leone

Salvatore Leone is the Don of the Leone family in San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, and GTA III.

He often assigns tasks to the main characters in each game, and these tasks usually involve weakening rival groups to maintain the Leones’ dominance.

Salvatore struggles to keep his allies, as both Claude from GTA III and CJ from San Andreas eventually have issues with him.

5. Patrick “Packie” McReary (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA Online)

Patrick "Packie" McReary

Patrick McReary is a loyal partner of Niko Bellic, the protagonist in GTA IV. These two criminals join forces to commit theft, murder, and even kidnapping.

Patrick’s stealing skills are helpful in GTA Online and GTA 5 when he aids the main characters in heists. However, you must first discover him in a hidden side mission so he can join forces with Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.

6. Karen Daniels (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA Online)

Karen Daniels

In GTA IV, Niko Bellic meets a girl named Michelle and they start dating. But it turns out that she’s actually a government agent named Karen in disguise.

She uses Niko to obtain Elizabeta’s cocaine and then brings her ex to the United Liberty Paper for their tasks.

We know those actions are wrong, but Karen is even meaner when she appears in GTA V, where she brutally interrogates an innocent man in an FBI building. She also appears in one of GTA Online’s less profitable heists.

7. Toni Cipriani (GTA III, GTA: Liberty City Stories)

Toni Cipriani

Toni Cipriani first appears in GTA III as a high-ranking member of Salvatore Leone’s organization. He uses Claude to help take down the Triads in various missions.

In Liberty City Stories, he gets a bigger role and becomes a protagonist. Toni is returning to organized crime after laying low for murder.

His goal is to work his way back up the ranks of the Leone Family. This also took place 3 years before GTA III.

8. Kent Paul (GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas)

 Kent Paul

Kent Paul, a confident British guy, is a crucial ally to Tommy Vercetti, the protagonist in Vice City. He’s valuable because of his helpful information and influential connections. Paul also handles the rock band Love Fist.

In San Andreas, CJ and Kent become friends when CJ helps him out, but Paul doesn’t really do much in return; he just hangs around sometimes.

9. Johnny Klebitz (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA Online, The Ballad of Gay Tony)

Johnny Klebitz

He plays a big role in GTA IV, especially in the Lost and Damned expansion, where he’s the main character.

During the DLC, Johnny tries to keep his motorcycle gang running despite the actions of its crazy leader, Billy Grey.

In GTA V, Johnny encounters someone crazier when he accuses Trevor of being involved with his girlfriend. This argument results in Johnny getting brutally beaten.

10. Ken Rosenberg (GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas)

Ken Rosenberg

Although not every part of Vice City has aged well, the characters, especially Ken Rosenberg, still shine.

Ken stands by Tommy Vercetti’s side right from the start of their drug deal, providing him with missions and supporting the growth of Tommy’s empire.

Rosenberg returns to San Andreas but is in trouble with some powerful enemies. Fortunately for him, he meets CJ, the protagonist, who is willing to help him out.

11. Phil Cassidy (GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories)

Phil Cassidy

In GTA III, there’s a mission where you need to help a guy named Phil, who has only one arm. You need to defend his army surplus store from an attack by Colombian Cartel gangsters.

He reappears in Vice City as a more developed character with a richer personality. You can enlist him for a bank heist related to the Malibu Club asset. Additionally, they have the option to purchase weapons from his store, in Vice City.

12. Donald Love (GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: Liberty City Stories)

Donald Love

In GTA III, players receive missions from Donald Love towards the game’s end, but he mysteriously disappears.

Even now, we don’t know where he is, but in one scene in Vice City, players find out how he learned to do business.

Avery Carrington taught Donald Love, which is evident in Vice City, and Love also quoted his mentor in GTA III.

13. Maria Latore (GTA III, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Liberty City Stories)

Maria Latore

Maria is a key character in GTA III. She is the one who forces the game’s protagonist to escape from Portland.

At the game’s conclusion, she’s safe, and the two characters walk into the sunset, though some rumors say the protagonist may have harmed her during the credits.

She plays a minor part in San Andreas, showing how she and Salvatore Leone first cross paths. She’s employed at a casino in Las Venturas, and the mob boss captivates her, eventually taking her to Liberty City.

14. Jethro And Dwaine (GTA: Vice City & GTA: San Andreas)

Jethro And Dwaine

Dwaine and Jethro first appeared in Vice City while playing as Tommy Vercetti. They show up after Tommy purchases the boatyard.

When Tommy arrives at the yard, his main goal is to find the fastest boat available, and Dwaine and Jethro help him out.

After Vercetti took control of Vice City, they went to San Andreas, where they met The Truth. Carl Johnson hired them to work at his car repair shop in San Fierro.

15. Bernard A.K.A United Liberty Paper Contact (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA Online)

Bernard A.K.A United Liberty Paper Contact

In GTA IV, Bernard, known as the ULP Contact, becomes important when Michelle’s true identity is revealed. He hires Niko to take care of dangerous tasks, like eliminating threats to his operations.

In GTA V, the ULP Contact appears in the mission “Monkey Business,” where Michael De Santa infiltrates a lab to get a nerve agent.

We spotted him once more in “The Wrap Up” when Michael faced off with Merryweather and the FIB.

16. Avery Carrington (GTA: Vice City, GTA: Liberty City Stories)

Avery Carrington

Carrington was a wealthy real estate businessman in Vice City. He mentored Donald Love to be his apprentice.

He also hired Tommy Vercetti to help speed up his business expansion in Vice City by completing different missions.

In the 1990s, Carrington and Love built their empires. However, by the time of Liberty City Stories, Love went broke trying to become the mayor and had Carrington killed to redevelop Fort Staunton.

17. Rocco Pelosi (GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony & GTA V)

Rocco Pelos

Rocco Pelosi is a major bad guy in GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. He’s a mean, arrogant, and nasty guy to everyone.

It was annoying that he survived in the end because he kept teasing Luis and Gay Tony, and we all wanted to see him get what he deserved.

However, we got our revenge when Michael De Santa in GTA V defeated him in a fistfight on orders from his boss, Solomon Richards, to bring back the actors they are trying to pursue.

18. Marnie Allen (GTA IV, GTA V, GTa Online)

Marnie Allen

We first meet Marnie in GTA IV in a sad state. Even though Niko Bellic isn’t a saint, he shows kindness to people like Marnie.

Niko first takes her to see her drug dealer when she’s strung out and craving and later drives her to the train station so she can return home. Niko learns later on that Marnie has enrolled in college and is no longer using drugs.

Five years later, she completely transformed her life and now works for the Epsilon Program in Los Santos in GTA V. This is involved in various missions and a couple of them. Marnie is the person Michael contacts within the organization.
