If you’re an Xbox fan, this is not a great way to start 2024.
An announcement has been made on the Xbox website that some games are about to leave Xbox Game Pass this month, and one of those games is Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5).

GTA 5 To Leave Xbox Game Pass
According to Xbox Wire, new games with ongoing subscriptions will be announced in the Xbox Game Pass library for fans. However, they will also remove games from the library, such as GTA 5.
Grand Theft Auto 5 made its debut way back in 2020 and has been on and off the Xbox Game Pass ever since.
However, it made its comeback just last year on July 5, 2023, when it was announced on Xbox Wire.
Now, they announced that it is being removed from the library again, which has left some fans very surprised and sad.
Additionally, there are 4 more games scheduled to be removed this January 2024. Here’s the list:
- Grand Theft Auto 5 – Cloud and Console on January 5, 2024
- Garden Story – Cloud, Console, and PC on January 15, 2024
- MotoGP 22 – Cloud, Console, and PC on January 15, 2024
- Persona 4 Golden – Cloud, Console, and PC on January 15, 2024
- Persona 3 Portable – Cloud, Console, and PC on January 15, 2024

What is Xbox Game Pass?
Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service from Microsoft that offers access to a vast library of games for a monthly fee.
Subscribers can download and play from a diverse range of titles, including Xbox console exclusives, popular AAA games, indie titles, and classic games from previous console generations.
There are different tiers of Game Pass: Xbox Game Pass for Console Xbox, Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines both console and PC access.
Their library is regularly updated, adding new games while also removing some titles over time, just like what happened in GTA 5.
Subscribers can download and play games as long as they’re part of the Game Pass catalog and maintain an active subscription.
