GTA 5 Source Code Leaked
Just a quick heads up, we can’t post any pictures related to this leak, or we might get sued by Rockstar Games.
Several sources report that the entire source code for GTA 5 was leaked from a Discord channel during Christmas. The leaks include information about Bully 2, an early GTA 5 map, the GTA 6 being called “Project Americas”, and more.
The GTA 6 hacker, currently under hospital arrest, is also responsible for secretly selling GTA 5’s source code to others in September 2022.
However, Rockstar is in trouble as the GTA 5 source code has been leaked and is now available online for everyone to see.
Apparently, a YouTuber called SKizzle said that the GTA 5 source code and other stuff got leaked on Discord. People on social media have been sharing screenshots proving the leak is legit.
A Possible Bully 2?
As we all know, the development of Bully 2 was canceled years ago. However, some fans always remain hopeful for a sequel to one of their favorite Rockstar games, Bully.
According to IGN, former Rockstar developers have confirmed that Bully 2 is not coming to the gaming world due to some reasons.
One issue at Rockstar New England, Bully’s game developer, was a boss with a negative attitude that affected everyone’s work culture. This led to some employees being transferred to another project.
Secondly, Rockstar believes that they currently have numerous titles, and Bully must make way for larger titles with greater potential, such as Red Dead Redemption.
Could the recent leak of the GTA 5 source code mean that Rockstar is planning to surprise fans with the release of Bully 2, a game that was no longer being discussed years ago?
GTA 6 Being Called “Project Americas”
As you recall from our previous article, we discussed how large the GTA 6 map will be. We also featured three fan-made map concepts in that article. One of the fan-made maps is called “Project Americas“.
Does it mean that this map might be the one that is more accurate compared to the GTA community map project?
The leaked information regarding Bully 2 and Project Americas offers a glimpse into Rockstar Games’ upcoming projects.
That said, this revelation may impact the company’s plans, potentially causing delays if the leaks are true.
Rockstar’s Response?
Rockstar Games hasn’t said anything official about the leaks yet, but we encourage you to avoid sharing the source code with the public for your own good.
Spreading the leaked source code could lead to your downfall, as Rockstar doesn’t tolerate hackers or someone who steals from them.
Consider the case of an 18-year-old hacker who received a life sentence under hospital arrest for leaking 90 in-game footage clips of GTA 6’s developmental stage.
What’s a Source Code?
Source code is like a software’s DNA, written in programming languages. It’s the game’s instruction manual, covering everything from how it works to how it looks.
This code serves as the blueprint, covering all aspects of gameplay mechanics. It also stands as proof of the hard work a developer put into the game.
That is why this is like a gold mine when hackers get their hands on it. It’s similar to when a thief gets the PIN code to your savings account.
In fact, it is devastating for a game developer to learn that their code has been released openly because everyone who gains access to it will eventually destroy the game they worked hard on for years.
So, if you’re a fan, it’s important not to spread the leaked source code; instead, we should all credit the developers for all their hard work on these games.
What Does This Mean to GTA Online?
When the source code is in public, there’s a higher chance of it being used for harm. Hackers can study it to find weak spots and use them to cheat or hack in Online sessions.
This leak is significant because it can potentially cause serious consequences, impacting not only Rockstar Games but also the players.
The released source code might be utilized by hackers to exploit weaknesses in the game, affecting both present and future players of GTA Online.
Additionally, it could potentially affect future projects like GTA 6 if similar coding structures were used. This scenario might cost Rockstar Games a large amount of time and money just to recode GTA Online and GTA 6.
