Have you seen the GTA 6 trailer from Rockstar Games a few days back? It’s all everyone’s been talking about.
But the real question is, did anyone catch those sneaky real-life references they put in there?

7 GTA 6 Real-Life References That May Suprise You
In this post, we’ll cover 7 real-life events that Rockstar used in GTA 6’s trailer to make it seem like Vice City is connected to the real Miami.
1. The Miami Joker
The Miami Joker, also known as Lawrence Patrick Sullivan, got attention for looking a lot like the Joker from Batman.
In 2017, he was arrested in Miami for pointing a gun at passing cars and for having tattoos that resembled the Joker’s facial makeup. After several weeks had passed, he was arrested again for possession of marijuana.
Sullivan gained considerable attention from the media as his mugshot bore a striking resemblance to the DC character.
Recently, he posted a video saying, “GTA, we gotta talk“. We think this is about money, and he wants his cut for using him as a reference.
2. Extreme Truck Surfing
This is seen as an extreme way to use your truck. Apparently, this is not new in our time. In fact, Inside Edition even made news out of it.
This is where you put your car or truck in drive mode, then climb onto the roof and imitate surfing while no one is inside the cabin.
There is also a clip on Reddit that we believe intrigued Rockstar, leading them to include it in their GTA 6 trailer.
3. Twerking on the Car’s Roof
Like the second story on our list, it’s all about a vehicle’s roof. Thankfully, a driver was there, so the chances of anyone dying are lower.
This is way back in 2017 when a girl was seen twerking on top of the roof of a car on a freeway in Miami.
Yahoo even wrote a short article about it. You can also find the full clip on Twitter/X from March 14, 2017. The caption on the video also mentions that it is in Miami and currently on Spring Break.
4. The Running Naked Man
An unusual sighting in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, has left residents surprised after a naked man was spotted running through the streets last October 13, 2022.
A citizen named, Lola McKinnon, is the one responsible for this bizarre video caught on her phone. While the police are investigating the incident, the naked man will be taken into custody.
The video is seen near a gas station that is similar to GTA 6’s trailer, leading us to think that this might be one of the references that Rockstar considered, even though it’s not entirely set in Miami.
5. Woman with Two Hammers
This news is kind of offensive to Mexicans, as it involves a racist woman using violence to keep them out of a neighborhood in Los Angeles.
This incident involves a racist woman continuously banging two hammers on a car while making racist comments towards a person. She told them to “Go back to Mexico” while being recorded.
Luckily, a concerned neighbor restrained the racist woman to prevent further emotional and physical harm.
While Rockstar made a solid reference to this one, it’s clear that they altered her outfit, hair, and appearance.
6. Alligator on the Loose
It’s quite disturbing that an alligator can freely roam the streets of Florida. Some have even been spotted in front of a Walmart store.
In a news report from ABC News back in 2013, an alligator was seen at the front door of Walmart in Florida. Luckily, nobody was hurt, as the animal went into the woods while the trapper was on the way to catch it.
This is not new when it comes to Florida; in fact, there’s a news report by Fox stating that another alligator was found in a pool in a residential area.
In the GTA 6 trailer, seeing this creature entering a convenience store and being removed from the pool suggests that we will see this massive reptile in the game.
7. Rich Man on Yacht
It’s common to have parties in Florida, especially during the Spring Break season. Sometimes, you’ll see parties on yachts, similar to the one in the GTA 6 trailer.
This reference shocked a lot of Redditors when they saw this post. The news surrounding the billionaire Jeff Bezos moving to Florida and the ridiculous mega-yacht is crazy.
While it’s unclear if it’s really Jeff Bezos, the yacht, the move to Florida, and the blue shorts are hard to ignore.
