Packie McReary: Location & How to Unlock in GTA 5

Patrick “Packie” McReary is a main character from Grand Theft Auto IV, reappearing in the franchise’s fifth installment.

Packie is a hired gunman who performs well in heists you can rescue from a random event. And in this guide, we’ll show a step-by-step process on how to do that.

Who is Packie in GTA 5?

Packie McReary is one of seven available guns-for-hire in GTA 5. As a heist crew member, he does a good job and asks for a 12% cut.

Since he’s available as early as the Jewel Store Job, Packie is an excellent accomplice for heists.

Where is Packie in GTA 5?

You can spot Packie robbing the Dollar Pills in Strawberry, near Franklin’s Safehouse.

The random event appears upon completing Pulling Favors – a side quest from Tonya Wiggins.

Important Note: Siding with Packie is rewarding as it’ll affect the rest of your gameplay. Remember not to:

Shoot him or his accomplice.
Kill the owner.
Stare at the scene for too long.

Otherwise, you must wait six to seven days for this random event to reappear (if he’s alive).

How to Find Packie In GTA 5

Act as the getaway driver to unlock Packie as a heist crew member in GTA 5. Follow these steps for the best results:

1. Play the game from Prologue to Pulling Favors. The latter mission is available after completing the Repossession initiated by Simeon Yetarian.

2. After completing Pulling Favors, press “ESC” to open the map. Then, mark the location from the screenshot. It’ll take you to Strawberry/Strawberry Avenue where Packie is robbing the nearby Dollar Pills Pharmaceuticals.

3. Press “ESC” again and mark the location near Rancho/Roy Lowenstein Boulevard. There’s a railroad hidden from sight, helpful for evading the cops.

4. Ditch your current vehicle and find a 4-door replacement that can accommodate the thieves (appearing as blue dots on your map).

5. Head towards the railroads and stay calm. Otherwise, Packie and his accomplice will leave your car.

While hidden in sight, keep the crew safe and watch out for passing trains. Your wanted stars will soon disappear.

Afterward, escort the Irish-Mexican pair to their safe house. Remember to avoid cops and police stations.

Completing the random event rewards you with $1000. You’ll also unlock Packie McReary as an accomplice in future heists:
